INVITATION

The Institute for Research on the Cultural Heritage of Europe and the Polish Historical Society cordially invite you to take part in the 5th International Scholarly Congress The State of Research on the Multicultural Heritage of the Former Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, scheduled for 29 September – 1 October 2021 in Białystok.

The Congress is a recurring international event whose purpose is to review research and findings on the heritage of the former Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth now located outside Poland's borders. It attracts great interest, particularly among art historians, historians, archivists, library scientists, heritage inventory specialists and other researchers working on heritage. An important feature of the Congress is the wide range of topics it addresses and its exceptionally multidisciplinary character. As at previous editions, the meeting will cover all aspects of the heritage of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and of the noble (Sarmatian) political nation originating both from within and from beyond the borders of present-day Poland. In particular, we wish to highlight the following thematic sections:

– Monuments of material culture beyond the present-day borders of Poland (art history, inventory, conservation and restoration of monuments, protection of cultural property, museology, literary studies, archaeology, ethnography, etc.).
– Archival records and libraries located outside Poland.

– The heritage of the Polish diaspora and of Poles living outside Poland.
